Life with kids in the Blue Mountains to Penrith region
Heatherbrae is a warm, welcoming and inspiring space where grown-ups and children can form friendships, have fun, learn or teach new skills and just “be” and where parents can be supported to help their children thrive. Providing a large play space for kids, parents, grandparents or carers are welcome to drop-in during open hours.
In September 2013, the Connect Community Hub team began moving into Heatherbrae, a gracious heritage listed house in Lawson (located beside the carpark behind Lawson Pub). What a beautiful place to visit with your kids - a sanctuary on those days when you just need to get out of the house, having some adult interaction while your kids play to their hearts content.
With a communal kitchen, you can make a cuppa, some snacks for the kids and settle in for the morning or longer! While you are there check out the huge balcony, there's usually some playdough and painting set up for the kids.
The Possum Toy Library, PERLS and the YAWN Program are also based in Heatherbrae and their Play Therapist has a dedicated room. They also hold regular activities and parenting courses for families to attend. We list these events on our calendar.
They also encourage families to let them know what activities and resources would be useful and they will be working with local services to complement the many wonderful and varied activities and resources already on offer.
